Afterglow 2003 - Day 6 (page 18)
The crowd started to gather for the big game, as Mom and I played our second game of horseshoes against Wayne and Tom. James made sure to awake bright and early to witness this event. He sure was happy to be there. Tim brought along his guitar, and livened up the crowd with his rendition of the CHARGE song, and even played a little song during halftime.
I still don't know how it was possible for Gary to drag himself out of bed that early, but that's what a friend is. A friend will wake up early just to support his good buddy and encourage him to win a game of horseshoes.
I showed up to play that day, and I vowed to walk away with nothing less than a victory. Nothing could come close to describing my determination to get that shiny ribbon saying that I won the horseshoe tournament.
I tried reeeeaaaaaal hard to win. I did, and so did my Mom. The horseshoes just weren't flying correctly that day, there must have been a disruption in Earth's gravitational field that caused the displacement of the shoes. That or we were beaten by a team that was better than us.
The teams re are supposed to be composed of one man and one woman, but Wayne and Tom were on the same team, which should have been illegal. But they allowed it, making Wayne wear a dress and a funny wig.
Well, we lost, and as I like to say, we were out-MANned. Tee hee hee. It's alright though, I have no regrets about my play in that tournament, and I'm glad that I had a great time with my Mom.
