Afterglow 2004 - Day 3
Afterglow's former young were all grown up and no longer wished to participate. Luckily, the younger youngin's had grow'd up too. It's a good thing that someone was still around to do the sponge pass.
The course always culminates with the sack hop, where you don a sack (or pillow case) and hop 10 yards or so to the finish line, where the stop watch ends and your team gets it's final time. Stacy out hopped her team and did her best to ensure victory for her team.
Naturally, Stefani had to be on a different team than he cousin Stacy. Pitting best friends against each other will fuel their competitive natures, and bring out the best within each of them. If you put them on the same team, then they will only goof around and not care about winning or loosing, but hey, this is America. We want to win.
The adults gathered to watch the children play. We did our best to entertain, but since Stacy and Stefani were the only ones participating, so much was riding on their shoulders. Thankfully, everything worked out in the end.
This used to be my favorite event, and the only reason I would do the obstacle course, until I suffered a embarrassing loss in 2002. I won again in 2004, but sat this year out. Someday I'll return.
Even though he owns the grounds that we were walking upon, Pete was forced to sit in the cheap seats for today's tug of war event. Quite possibly it was because he could get the best angle from there...
When the little kids did tug of war, it was girls vs. boys. This kid Jacob was upset (really upset) that his team was manhandled, so Gail asked me to cheer him up by loosing to him one-on-one. So I did. Next page...
