Afterglow 2006 - Day 3

We usually try and make it to the front of the line so we can get first dibs on all of the best food. After that, it's slim pickings and you have to settle for some crappy leftovers. I herby apologize to everyone who made the crappy leftovers that no one likes to eat. What in the world were you thinking? If you wouldn't eat it, why would we?

The week at Afterglow is the only time of the year when we play horseshoes. For the last few years, we have keep the same teams in tact so that we may quest for glory, greatness and the Championship Blue Ribbon. Jenny and James form Team J Reck, and if Jenny could step it up, they would be a force to be RECKoned with. Unfortunately, they always crash and burn and lay recked on the side of the road.

In Afterglow volleyball, Burt's rules stipulate that you are allowed to let the ball bounce on the pavement once in between hits. Some people may laugh at that idea and say that it makes the game too easy, but I think it's great because it allows everyone big and small to participate. If you are a volleyball purist, you don't have to let the ball bounce, but you will get chastised for being too good by your team mates.

Susie participates in few activities throughout the week (although she does watch nearly all of them) so you have to catch her while she is doing them. If you don't, then you'll have to wait another year to see it again. I'm not calling her lazy, it's just that she decides to spend her vacation relaxing instead of participating in rigorous activities.

Monday night is the only night when we get a real game of Afterglow volleyball going. Since I adore Aglow volleyball, this is the only Monday that I look forward to all year long. When I play Afterglow volleyball, I actually feel like I actually possess athletic talent and can do good with it.

Uncle Rick came out to see his daughter kick some ass on the volleyball court. Our family always supports one another, but we make it a point to continue to do it even on vacation. Afterglow is about family and drinking, which is why Uncle Rick is there to watch his family with giant mug in hand.
