Afterglow 2006 - Day 3

The Reck brothers (I know that Kevin isn't officially part of the family, but up here we consider him to be one of us) decided to do a little swimming so that we could fulfill our part of the pact for today. We grabbed our mugs filled with our favorite beverages and started the short journey out to the raft. You've probably noticed this over the years but in case you haven't, Afterglow Lake isn't very big and you could easily swim across it. That makes distances tolerable, such as the one between the beach and the raft. Even if you aren't the greatest swimmer in the world, you still would be able to make it out to our favorite lake hangout spot.

When we get out there we usually sit around and dry off. To this day I still don't understand why we do it. Most of the time we climb up to the high dive and sit and wait for the sun to take the water off of our clothes and body. On the days when the sun is not out, we tend to stay in the water because it is almost always warmer than the air. When we are out there, I'd probably say that I spend more time on the raft than in the water, and I only go off of the high dive about 2 times when I'm out there. I'd feel bad about not using the raft to its full potential, but I've been doing it for so many years that I have learned to not feel the pain anymore.

With drink in hand, I give a thumbs up. Normally I don't allow pictures like this on my site (it is a family site after all) but this picture truly captures the moment. Once again, a simple thumbs up substitutes for any words that I could possible come up with.

I don't know what is going on here. I was out on the dock and Jenny was taking these pictures. I can only hope that Janelle is showing Jenny how much alcohol she put in her mug before adding the mixer beverage. If it were true, I'd be so extremely proud of her.

Tommy cares a lot about looking good. That's why he works out, combs his hair and takes the time to add a little color to his skin. There's no better time than the relaxing afternoons at Afterglow to accomplish the final thing on the list of looking good.

Jenny is always in the mood to contribute to this site, be it in front of or behind the camera. In this picture she offers up a toast to the family and friends who have made it down to the pot luck dinner to chow down and catch up on the year. I come to chow down.
