Afterglow 2006

We try to match up people who are similar in height and skill level so that everything is fair and everyone had fun. That explains why Kevin and I were guarding each other. You would think that it was an unfair match up, but it worked out well because I have no athletic skill. I learned a long time ago that I was better suited to sit at a computer console and come up with apt and humorous descriptions of events that I either was a part of or witnessed with my own eyes. At least I figured this out early on and didn't prolong the inevitable.

Water sports are the ones that we still do participate in because we can do so at our own leisure. Kayaking has seen an increase in membership ever since Tim and Kevin chose to spearhead the venture. Those two can always be seen floating around in the water and disturbing the local aquatic habitat by inserting the paddle in and stirring the once stagnant surface water. The fish and sea creatures usually don't mind because Kevin, Tim and the rest of the Afterglow Kayak team mean well and don't try to capture them with baited hooks.

If these pictures were larger and more clear, then I could tell you who is currently standing on top of the high dive in this picture. It's probably a good thing that you cannot identify them because they all are currently in violation of the Afterglow High Dive rule which stipulates that only 6 people may occupy the upper portion of the raft at one time. There are no exceptions to this rule, although we violate it on a daily basis.

Gail does her best to organize Afterglow events, but nothing happens unless people actually show up for these events. When we were younger, we wouldn't miss a single game of volleyball, baseball, baseball or the obstacle course. Now that we are older and slow to get going in the morning, we only play basketball in the first part of the week. After that, we're just too tired to move around in the morning. When we do get enough people (we shoot for 10, which is perfect for 5 on 5 full court) we have a great time hustling up and down the court.

At least we know that Tommy wasn't on top of the raft along with the rest of those Afterglow hooligans. How do we know that? It's simple my friends, we just used the process of elimination. Since Tommy is seen in this picture floating around on a raft at the same time that the others were seen on the raft, he couldn't have been there with them. And you thought that it was going to be hard...
