I rarely make unsubstantiated claims on this site. If I mistakenly do so, then it was because I was kidding or I was drunk and didn't know any better. Tim plays guitar. You all will agree with me on that one. James doesn't play guitar, but he plays golf, so he played right alongside Tim for one song. |
Afterglow 2006 - Day 2 |
I cannot imagine a more inspiring place than the edge of the pier overlooking Afterglow Lake. I sometimes sit out here and just think. Tim uses the edge of the pier to practice his new songs and possibly to come up with ideas for some brand new ones. Until he tells me otherwise, I'm going to assume that is what he's doing here. |
Brian floated in a kayak and got a lake-side seat to Tim's pier concert. Because of the way that Tim was sitting, Brian was the only one who was in the "true" audience. Sometimes I question Brian's actions, but this time he had perfectly calculated and executed the perfect plan to enjoy Tim's performance. |
You by now know my "look" that I give in pictures (with my mouth and eyes wide open) but Tim is not imitating me in this picture. I just happened to catch him in mid-song, and he is intensely focused on the next chord change. When Tim starts to play he's in the zone, and he often ignored everything that is happening around him. |
Tonight's dinner was nice and simple. Two times at Afterglow we have big dinners - Monday, which is the potluck, and Thursday, which is the Reck/Kurutz family dinner. All of the other nights we either fend for ourselves or throw something together. Because it was neither Monday nor Thursday, I don't recall what we had for dinner tonight. |
Jenny used her leisure time at Afterglow (is there any other time up here?) to make some more beautiful hemp necklaces. I once requested one and she turned me down because she didn't have any beads that were manly enough for me. I told her that I don't care and I only wanted to proudly sport one of her fashionable creations. |
At night we either do 3 things - play cards, drink, or light off fireworks. Sometimes we combine some of them, but never drinking and fireworks. Some things just don't mix well. Tonight we drank and played Texas Hold 'Em poker. It was a pretty intense game because there were so many people involved and we played with real money. I think either Jenny or Timmy ended up winning it all, but I can't recall properly because I had been drinking. |
After the game was over, we stumbled back to cabin #2 (our cabin) and prepared for bed so that we could do it all over again tomorrow. We first decided to grab a bite to eat because food tastes oh so good when you are drunk. Greasy food tastes the best because you eat it without remorse or thought of what it is doing to your body. James and Tim put together grilled cheese sandwiches with onions, corn and ham. I didn't try one, but I bet it tasted good. |
