James goes back out on the dock, this time with his fishing pole and bait, hoping to show the fish that he is the boss this time around. I don't know if he caught anything (there aren't a lot of keepers in Afterglow Lake) but I know they had a touching family moment.

Kevin had been waiting a long time for this ear of corn, so it was no surprise to anyone there when he tore into it and devoured every last kernel. He wasted no time at all sending the corn down to his belly.

I always wondered how people with no teeth could tear corn off of the cob. It turns out, as Faith demonstrates, they don't do it very well. Faith is loosing her baby teeth by the day, and every time I see her the smile is different. It must make eating quite challenging.

Since there were no parents around to hassle us with parental advice, we decided to go swimming without waiting a half hour. We wanted to show those parents that we were the ones in charge, not them.

I saw Stacy rowing out by herself in the middle of the lake, and although you might disagree, I'd happily trade places with her right now. For me, there's no better place in to be than alone in the middle of Afterglow Lake with nothing but nature and my own thoughts.

Afterglow 2006 - Day 6

I have no idea where the parents all were at this time. This might have been one of those nights when they all go out to dinner and leave the kids to fend for themselves. I don't know because it's been almost 9 months since these pictures were taken. When we were young, we might have eaten something easy, like frozen pizza or Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. Now that we are older, we are capable of cooking goodies like brats and corn on the cob. We keep our youth and innocence alive however, by still eating young people foods like Goldfish crackers.

Home

We cooked, gathered and sat down as adults, but we still ate like a bunch of kids. Tim found a comfy spot on Kevin's lap to lay his head, and Kevin spoon-fed Tim his dinner. These kids are something else.
