A lot of family and friends make up the audience that assembles for every big Afterglow event. A lot of that has to do with the fact that every participant's family and friends are also staying the week in their designated cabins, but we'll just go head and pretend that it is still special that so many people made it out to support their loved ones. Remember that they chose this over swimming... |
Luxury seats exist at every sport venue. Why should Afterglow sports be any different? The best place in Afterglow has to be in the lake, so naturally the best seats are from floating rafts in the water. These geniuses in the picture were smart enough to figure it out and corner the market on these prime beachfront locations. |
Tim likes to watch from the sidelines and think up creative ways to explain the Afterglow experience in song. Aside from his previously titled Afterglow on the album Smile at the Fishies, he has yet to write a song that describes the beauty and serenity of this paradise. |
It's tough to watch the Tug of War and not participate in it. Now I understand how frustrating it is to be your favorite team's "armchair quarterback" on any given Sunday. Watching them made me question my retirement because I know that I still have a little left in me. |
James' team eventually won the Tug of War, mostly because brute strength almost always wins over perseverance. I don't want to take anything away from the other team, but James wanted it more than they did and he was willing to do what it takes to secure a victory. He truly embodies all of the characteristics of Athlete of the Week. |
Afterglow 2006 - Day 4 |
Janelle was enjoying every minute of this. I didn't get that information straight from her, and even though I don't remember my first year at Afterglow (I was like 5 years old), I could imagine how much fun it would be to do it for the very first time. She sure looked like she was having fun. I wouldn't expect anything else for, the happiest place on Earth. Walt Disney World ain't got nothing on this place. |
It's funny how things can change faster than you can say "Holy crap! Things are changing!" The weather went from beautiful to downright ugly in such a short period of time that we were able to watch it happen with our own eyes. We were standing at the beach looking across the lake when we saw the rain coming straight at us like a semi-truck whose driver fell asleep at the wheel. It was so awesome to be right in the middle of nature's fury knowing that there's nothing you could do to stop the impending meteorological doom. |
