Afterglow 2013 - Day 3 Monday

This time around we added another person to our Morning Stretch session. We ran into Kevin on our way up to KK and even though he is 9 years younger than me and 5 years younger than Jenny, he needed the stretching just as much as we did. A morning stretch is beneficial to everyone regardless of age. It helps to get the body loose and ready for the day. Who doesn't want to be loose and ready?

It sucks to be programmed. For the last 5 years I have worked from 9:30am-5:30pm and my body is used to waking up around 7:30am. I wake up at the same time every morning regardless of what day it is or where I am. So even on vacation I'm up and at 'em when I could have been sleeping in. I could have gone back to sleep but I decided not to. Since everyone else was still in bed or in their cabins, I decided to sit out on the dock and soak up the morning. There wasn't much to soak up. The sun was nonexistent and it was rather chilly. It felt like it was going to be one of those days. I wish the weather could always be perfect but when it isn't, I have no choice but to make the best of it. I only get a few days up here every year and I'll be damned if I am going to wasted one of them.

After Jenny took her one swim of the day, she retreated back to the dock to lay out in the sun and listen to some music. There's nothing wrong with that. To each their own. I look like a beached whale when out of the water, so I'll happily stay in the lake.

Even though I was already back to drinking this morning, that didn't cure what happened last night. I needed to once again stretch and stave off the whole "Getting Old" thing. Luckily Jenny was more than willing to lead another Morning Stretch.

The one benefit to being up so early on vacation is morning coffee. Gail makes a pot of coffee and sets it outside the lodge, so I went and got some. I put some whiskey in my coffee and as I sat there all alone, I wrote this article on my blog - A Morning Cup of Rage.

You've probably seen this thing before. It's like a surfboard but you stand on top of it and paddle. I don't have enough balance, strength and stamina to try it, but Jenny did and went out into the great known. It looked like fun. I wouldn't know...

While we were up on KK for Morning Stretch, the sun came out and it looked like it wouldn't be such a bad day after all. We all know how quickly the weather can change in Wisconsin so we decided to go swimming now before it took a turn for the worse.

Jenny came back to shore and went out in the water. Stacy stood on the shore and contemplated joining her. I stood even further back and captured the scene. How is this for a role reversal? I should have been the one in the water. Oh I'm so ashamed.
