Afterglow 2011 - Day 5 Wednesday

But as you saw in the previous video eventually we have to get up off our rumps and go do something so that we don't waste any time here at Afterglow. We have of time to waste the other 358 days of the year. Besides, why sit around when you can go swimming?

Now that Eddie, Rez, James and Melissa had left, Cabin #2 was down to 4 residents. Along with the numerous randoms that practically live here, we had made quite a mess. Jenny took it upon herself to tidy up the joint. And what did I do to contribute? I sat and watched and took pictures. We all have to do our part and help out.

James and Melissa had to leave today which totally sucked, but I understand. They are lucky to come back home a few times a year and they have a lot of people to see including Melissa's family. We're fortunate that they could be here for 4 days. Some years they might not be able to come up here at all. Now that would suck.

Kevin and I had already gone swimming so we fulfilled our end of the bargain. That left Brian and Tommy with the option of swimming or atomic wedgies. Swimming always wins out. I would have gone with them but a double dip wasn't in order today. Once was enough.

When we finally do get a bad day we actually kind of welcome it. That's because Afterglow isn't a very relaxing vacation because we are constantly doing something. Now that we all have full time jobs we welcome a week in which we do nothing but lay back and rest. But then again that would be a total waste of our time up here. So it's all about finding a balance and making the most of our time here. But to be quite honest with you I certainly don't mind a low key day, especially right in the middle of the week. I don't mind sitting around with the kids.

Tommy must have been watching Professional Sport Stacking videos because he knew exactly what he was doing and he was pretty damn good at it too. It also could have been because he is a gifted natural athlete who excels at every sport no matter how obscure it is. Tommy stacked the cups and collapsed them like a pro and for a brief moment I was considering being his agent so I could get a percentage of his winnings once he decides to to start entering events and taking the top prize. With my help (and his coaching staff) he will be the best player in the World.

And that's why we were in the HT once again. It's the only warm water to hang out in at Afterglow unless you count the bathtub. Who takes baths anyway? I'm sure some little newborns are being bathed in the sink as we speak but they don't make their own choices.

Without the sun it can get awfully cold out. Anyone who has ever been outside in the night can back me up on that. Even though it was daytime we still depend on the sun for warmth and the water is cold. So I'm holding myself to stay warm not to cover the shame.

There are all sorts of things we could be doing right now but we instead decided to play with cups. But not just any old cups. Heavy weight plastic competitive stacking cups. And Kevin was determined to beat the World Record, even if he had to try the whole day.

Despite being in God's playground we decided to spend the majority of the day indoors. We aren't used to this so we have to be creative. Tommy decided to play with this bead toy that you often see in Pediatrician's offices to keep the 5 year olds busy while waiting.
