Afterglow 2005 - Day 2
I meant to do this last night, but I totally forgot. I wanted to reassure everyone that I did indeed get home ok last night. Despite foggy roads, late night gambling, and run-ins with the Michigan police, I was still standing here in front of my cabin ready for a new day.
Tim brought a kayak out into the swimming area (which is illegal by the Afterglow bylaws) so I pulled a Milton Bradley move and sunk his battleship. Being the sport that he is, he gave me a ride back to shore. It was tough, but Tim was up for the challenge.
Kevin (pookon.com's # 1 fan) was around to give the Afterglow community a hearty thumbs up. There's 2 things that I can always count on - he'll visit my site at least once a day and he always has a good attitude towards all things Afterglow.
The kids (mainly Tim and Kevin) had this wild idea that they could catch fish with simply a net and intuition. Needless to say, they returned to the beach with nothing but stories of the one that got away.
Tim and Kevin didn't catch any fish because they weren't using hooks or proper bait. This all started because we killed some horseflies and knocked them in the water, then were in awe when a fish rose to the surface to consume it. On a lazy Sunday like this, attempting to catch fish using this method was the best and only thing to do. Once we ran out of horseflies, they tried to bait the fish using saliva (in spit form) but that didn't really do anything but remind me of how gross it is to spit into a body of water that we later would be immersing our bodies in. Crazy kids and their ideas.
This is what usually happened every day at Afterglow - the kids stayed in the water and the adults stayed on the beach. Susie qualifies as an adult because she seems to hang out on the beach more often. Likewise, I hang out in the water all the time, so I am officially a kid.
We persuaded my Mom to let us borrow the car so that we could go to the casino again. She was upset because it was daytime and there were better things to do than commit sins. My Mom doesn't care for casinos, but that doesn't mean that we don't, although we did lose money again. I guess we'll have to go win it back again.
