Afterglow 2005 - Day 7
The next day, Tim and I went out for some reason, although I can't remember what it was anymore. We were probably going to to town to get some groceries or a 12 pack of Mountain Dew. Anyway, we thought that it would only be right to stop by the platforms and see the damage that we had caused the other night while lighting off fireworks. We have no idea what this area was used for, but we have heard rumors that there's some kind of waste involved. That being said, it's not the safest place to hang around in, especially in the middle of the night and with explosive devices.
Why we do fireworks here is beyond me. Back in the day, we used to light them off on a remote road in the middle of the woods, but now we pretty much blow them up in "downtown" Phelps, right in the backyard of some of the local's homes. I guess that's why someone called the Sheriff on us this year - they were simply getting tired of us disturbing the peace.
There was this creaky old bridge that we found that Tim refused to cross. This was actually one of the first times (if not the first) that we've been here in the daytime, so all of these things that we saw were brand new to us.
If you're an environmentalist, you might want to stop reading right now. In our efforts to evacuate the area as soon as possible, we neglected to pick up the byproducts of our magical night of explosions. Sorry Planet Earth.
This is the part where I feel bad about al of the terrible things that I have done over the years. Look at the garbage lying on the barren concrete and tell me that somewhere, an Indian Chief isn't crying. It truly is a sad sight to behold, and I can't help but blame myself for causing all of this destruction when I single-handedly could have stopped it from happening.
