It was Thursday, which for us is the grand Kurutz/Reck dinner. We all get together for the extravaganza, but first we spend the day hanging out with the family. Seated on both sides of my Mom (in maroon) are my Nana and Papa, who made the trip up here just to be with the family.

Tommy tries out the baby dolphin swing, which was clearly made for children 1/3 the size of him. I'm surprised that the rope didn't snap or pull out from the trees. These kids will try anything to get a laugh these days...

Brian just had to copy Tommy for several reasons. 1 - because I promised that I'd take his picture if he did, 2 - because he had to try and succeed where Tommy failed and break the dolphin swing, and 3 - because it was raining outside and there was really nothing else to do.

Keeping true to our promise, Tim and I had to swim in the lake today. Although it was cold and rainy, our promise has been in full effect for almost 5 years now. At Afterglow, traditions are created and upheld, and breaking them is something that I don't want to witness firsthand.

My Mom was kind enough to stand out in the rain and cold to take pictures so that I could have physical proof that Tim and I stand true to our promise to swim every day. We swam out to the high dive and jumped off a few times, trying to stay in the water as much as possible. The water temperature wasn't that bad really. I don't really understand science, but for some reason, the water temp just seems to be warmer than the air temp when it rains, making swimming pleasant.

We only needed to stay in the water for as long as it was necessary for it to count that we went swimming that day. We would've stayed in the water longer, but it simply wasn't too much fun to be out there by ourselves in the rain.

A faithful few were up in the lounge putting together a puzzle, but they took the time to applaud Tim and I for our willingness to sacrifice ourselves for the pleasure of others. I admire these people for the support they offer.
