Before we knew it, the darkness started to fade away and everything got a whole lot clearer. As of yet, we hadn't heard any cars driving into Afterglow, but we weren't certain cause the Sheriff might have had a cloaking device enabled on his vessel. I could see a lot clearer now because the fog had settled down, but none of us were settling down for sleepy time yet. As you can see, the fire was still going, so we decided to not quit until it did.

Father Time started to beat down on me like I stole something. At this point it was nearly 6:00 am, and I was almost ready to quit fall asleep. But a soft whisper came across the lake and begged me to continue my journey, for I have come too far to just curl up and fall asleep. It was then that I realized that the lake wasn't talking to me, I was merely hallucinating because I had been awake for 34 hours and aged several years after that life-altering altercation with Vilas County's finest.

While I had remained sober in order to properly deal with authority figures, James had no connection to the events and was loaded and ready to give the Sheriff a piece of his mind. He had no shame in consuming mass quantities of alcoholic beverages, and I really don't blame him either - that's just what we do up here. Not a day goes by on vacation where I don't enjoy at least 1 beverage legally suitable for those in the 21 + age range. That's what vacation is all about.

Morning was now in full swing, and it seemed like we were in the clear. We took one last look at the lake, and watched our campfire slowly burn down to the embers. We had already stuck it out this far, so we had no intention of throwing in the towel, so James suggested a little fishing. It's no secret to outdoorsmen that fishing is good in the wee hours of the morning. In order to experience A.M. fishing, you either need to get up at the crack of dawn (which is nearly impossible unless you are retired and go to bed at 8:30 the night before) or if you stay up all night drinking in order to tangle with the law over a disorderly, disturbing the peace, noise violation escapade involving fireworks (which is more likely to happen.)
