World Series of Beer Pong 7 - Day 2

Home

A lot of people have added me as a friend on Facebook because of the Last Cup Movie and every year at the WSoBP I get to meet them in person. Allie was one of those people and I was taken aback by her decision to go topless but covered in body paint. Hummel and I couldn't resist a picture with her cause we are guys. Deal with it. Although it really shouldn't have been so shocking considering her Facebook activity.

Game 3 on Day 2 against the Muffin Stuffers ended up being our longest game of the tournament. Both teams were evenly matched with shots made and missed and it ended up going into overtime. I don't remember much of it anymore but from the picture on the right I can only imagine our conversation involving lots of questions about what the hell do we need to do to get a damn win out here? We were struggling man.

By the time Game 3 came along we were just ready to be done. With a 1-7 record we knew that it wouldn't end well. Something happened then that turned the tides and helped us finish on a positive note. It must have been the sickness going away and the booze kicking in.

My friend Eric lives in Fresno, CA and has been one of my buddies out here since year 2 or something. It's been a long time. He's one of those people who sends me a text message on Christmas or Thanksgiving to wish me and my family a good day. A real class act.

I may not like rebuttal rules and 3-cup overtime in beer pong but in this game I did like hitting 2 kill shots and for the first time this year pulling my weight in a game. That resulted in our first win of the day and a renewed love of the game. Let's face it man, losing is never fun and it makes you start to ponder why you even bothered spending all that money to come out here. But a win, even just one win, changes all of that talk.

It's not all about the beer pong out here. For me it never really was. It's more about the people, and one of the people I love is Patti. She works with the Bpong boys and actually reads the crap I post on my blog. That's so awesome. She's so awesome. One of my favorites.

So you already know that we went 1-5 on Day 1. But that was yesterday. Today we were determined to finish with a respectable record and make everyone proud. And... we lost Games 1 + 2 on Day 2. Dejected, we walked back to the room to sulk and drink.

I'm going to use these pictures to tell the story that my memory cannot recall. With 2 cups left Hummel hit the set-up shot and instantly put his hands up in the air in the tablebreaker position. I then miss the shot because the next picture has Hummel telling me to take the first shot at the kill and end this game, earning us another win. Did we win? What happened in this game? We did win the game and I did hit the kill shot...BUT here at the World Series of Beer Pong they play rebuttals, and the Muffin Stuffers hit two in a row to send it to a 3-cup overtime. I am not a fan of rebuttals because a losing team should not get the chance to win a game. No other sport allows that to happen so why should beer pong? Oh, that's because beer pong isn't a sport. I know thousands of people who would disagree with that statement if you said it.
