World Series of Beer Pong 6 - Day 3 |
The Sin City Brewing company was the beer sponsor of WSoBP II, which was the last time Hummel and I played together. They have a bar serving their products at the Flamingo, so we grabbed a brew and sat down and talked about Day 2 of the World Series of Beer Pong. |
Sam and Josh didn't make Day 3 either, but they decided to go to the ballroom to watch those that did. I wasn't as eager to do that, but I went there anyway. I guess I just figured that I should be there to support my fellow beer pong players and... yeah. Screw those guys. |
I've known Doug and Matt for several years now and they also didn't make the Day 3 playoffs. In fact, I would go so far to say that they never have made the playoffs. That's no slight against them in any way because I too have missed Day 3 for the last 4 years. But even though we don't have a shot at the $50,000, guys like Matt and myself have been to every year of the WSoBP for reasons other than monetary gain. There are certain people that I only see once a year, and this event brings us all together. So basically I just go out there to have fun. It's Las Vegas! |
I'll tell you that I was here to watch some of the playoffs and say goodbye to some friends (we go home tomorrow) but I'll be honest and say that I was really here for the internet. I needed to upload the blog entry from this morning and up in here the internet was free. |
I've known Kenny for a couple of years and get to hang out with him at beer pong tournaments in Milwaukee and Chicago. To my knowledge this was his first year at the WSoBP. Although he too didn't make the Day Playoffs, I know that he had one hell of a time. |
I didn't really care to watch the playoffs. The only time that they mattered to me was when I was in them or someone from my crew was playing on this day. No offense, but I just don't care enough about everyone else or the sport in general to stick around and watch games for several hours. Maybe if this thing was still in Mesquite then I might have, but not here in Vegas. There's just too much else going on outside of these walls to keep me here. Besides, after competing and pouring yourself into these games, you hate to see someone else succeed. That's the truth. |
Are you familiar with the Last Cup: World Series of Beer Pong documentary? Then you should be familiar with Sean Foster, the guy in the film who kept track of his stats on his sidekick phone and broke beer pong down to a science. He's pictured below with his partner Austin and my friends Zach + Geanah. Where you ask? Yep - the chick. Apparently he cross dresses and has an alternate persona and sprung it upon the world as a distraction for his/hers opponents. My indicator just went from "nerd alert" to "freak alert." Seriously, who does that? That's just wrong. |
