World Series of Beer Pong 6 - Downtown |
Have you ever seen the TV show Pawn Stars on the History Channel? My little brother Timmy got me into it and we watched new episodes before movie night. I was really excited to come out to Las Vegas and meet Rick, Big Hoss, The Old Man and Chumlee in person. The sign outside said the place was open 24 hours a day and while I understood that those guys wouldn't be working after 10 o'clock at night. But still I was excited to be able to walk around the store and check things out. But the inside of the store was closed and my dreams would have to wait. |
As you can see from the pictures here the shop is open 24 hours a day but there is a catch - during the nighttime hours only the window is open and not the inside of the store. I suppose they have a pretty good reason for that. The only people who visit a pawn shop in the middle of the night are strung out druggies in need of cash for their next fix or losers who have gambled away their family fortune or their kid's college fund. Plus I'm sure these places would get robbed nightly if the guy wasn't sitting behind bulletproof glass. Maybe next year I'll meet my heroes... |
The Freemont Street Experience is one not to be missed. But if they are playing KISS then you can probably skip it. You know I like to rock and roll all night and part of every day. I usually have errands to run between 1 and 3pm. But since it was around 11pm I didn't have anything better to do so I stared at the sky and watched The Starchild, The Demon, The Spaceman and The Cat infuse the crowd with rock and roll anthems. To be quite honest with you, if it wasn't for the movie "Role Models" I wouldn't give a shit about KISS. Movies influence my life way too much. |
One of my favorite places to visit in Las Vegas is La Bayou on Freemont Street in Downtown. That's where I met Karma (the girl that brought nothing but pain upon me when I left her) and drank myself into a frenzy. I went back there this year (because I promised her that I would marry her someday) but sadly she no longer worked there. So I sunk my money into the Bright Diamonds penguin slot machine and cried. That Las Vegas casino drink girl was the one; I know that now. But it wasn't meant to be. And today I weep... |
