World Series of Beer Pong 5 - Day 1

One of the side effects of drinking all day is that you feel like eating even if you aren't hungry. The management of the Flamingo hotel was well aware of this and set up an assortment of food (for purchase of course) right outside of the ballroom. Kanz and Baker fell for this trap as they overpaid for food they didn't need.

Maybe there was just too much action going on in the rest of the ballroom for people to be concerned about what was happening over at table #1 in the corner. Maybe the sport has gotten too big and people don't know who the legends of the game are. Who knows.

Last year the feature table was all the rage. It was meant to match up elite teams in the preliminaries so that people could gather around and watch a well played game. Last year they had camera on cranes covering the action, but this year it was lackluster. But I still went to watch Jamie and Nick play a game on that table.

Sean Foster (left) is one of those elite players who you might recognize of you've seen the Last Cup beer pong documentary. This year he would be playing with his pal Austin from Maryland Beer Pong. I initially labeled them as one of the teams to go far.

Brodey is pointing at me and I am pointing at Brodey in the WSoBP 1 banner. I wish I could come up with some crazy creative story as to why we were doing this, but it's as obvious as it looks. We were doing it just to do it. We may have been at bit nostalgic and remembering the good ol' days but we had every right to. WSoBP 1 was and will always be a special event in my life that can never be replicated. At least I'll always have that.

Even though I had been drinking all day (about 10 hours at this point) I went up to my room to drink some more. Normally that sounds like a ludicrous idea, but tonight I was playing in the Singles Tournament and I needed to regain some of the drunkenness that I had lost. So I slammed this giant Four beverage, and I was good to go for more.

We were 2-3 heading into our final game of Day 1. We played against these two jokers who couldn't even stand up straight but were somehow still able to make cups. The game went into multiple overtimes but in the end N-Ice Kanz (which was our team name this year) was able to emerge victorious to finish Day 1 at 3-3.
