World Series of Beer Pong 5 - Day 1 |
The biggest difference in years 3 + 4 is that my team failed to make the playoffs. Year 3 we finished with a 7-5 record which didn't make the cut for Day 3. Year 4 was pretty freaking amazing up until we found out that our 8-4 record was not good enough to make Day 3. I had a lot of hype on me throughout year 4 and we played well under the pressure. But as soon as we failed to reach the playoffs no one gave two shits about the Iceman and Joey Kanz anymore, hence the lack of pictures on these banners. But it was still nice to see some familiar faces who were relevant enough to represent the years. |
It is not uncommon for players to disrobe when playing beer pong. For Brodey and I that usually means ditching the jersey so that we have less restrictions on the throwing arm. Kanz proudly wore the Brodey #82 jersey while Brodey played free of clothing distractions. I don't think there is any scientific data to back this up, but it common sense that people perform better when they are comfortable. I don't think too many pongers would disagree with me. Everyone has their own style, but for me that is playing beer pong in track pants and sleeveless shirt. |
I was really digging the WSoBP banners from years 1 + 2. I know that it comes as no surprise that I'm kind of full of myself, but I think that everyone can agree that they are more interested in something if you have a personal attachment to it. Case in point - years 1 + 2 featured myself and the other guys from Milwaukee prominently in the display. I have an emotional connection to those people, and for me years 1 + 2 were the best out of the 5. That is just my opinion and if you were there feel free to disagree. And if you weren't there you have no choice but to agree with me. Sorry. |
At this point Kanz and are were 2-1, and we really should be 3-0. We lost game 1 by one cup because we couldn't hit the kill shot. We won game 2 by one cup in overtime. We then won game 3 when I hit my 2nd kill shot. Our cup margin was hovering around one, but our overall record so far was in good shape. But we needed to win more. |
I felt like I was analyzing our performance too much and reading inside the lines, so I went upstairs for a drink. I always play better when I relax, have fun and stop worrying about stats. Which is why I play better when I am drunk. Drinking helps to forget. Most of the time that is a bad thing, but in beer pong, for me it is good. |
