World Series of Beer Pong 4 - Day 1

I was a rather dangerous combination of drunk/excited after the game, but I still had the good sense to congratulate these guys and wish them luck for the rest of the tournament. I in no way wanted to rub it in their faces or open celebrate in front of them and look like an asshole. If I did that, then it was a mistake and I do apologize. But it was a big win for Kanz and I, and although it was only the 2nd game on the first day, it was a big game that should do wonders to boost our confidence. Kanz and I run on alcohol and confidence, so once we have both in our system, watch out, cause we're a freight train from hell, and we ain't stopping for no one. Well maybe the ladies. We always break for ladies. I'd probably brake for a cheeseburger too. I can't lie about that one. Let's not kid ourselves here.

I've had the Iceman Brewers jersey for about 3 years now, and it's done me well. I hate to accuse others of jumping on the bandwagon, but in the years prior both Hummel and Brodey have their own customized Brewers jerseys. But when I think about it, I shouldn't get upset because we all look so sweet in these matching jerseys.

One player on each team was "miced up", there was a camera on a crane, and more people watching me then I've ever experienced before. At first it was a little daunting, then once the game started I didn't notice any of those outside distractions and just saw the cups. That was until the Milwaukee crew started yelling psych-outs like "It's not our kid!" and "x more cups!" (with the x obviously being replaced with how many more cups we had left to hit. But you knew that, you took Algebra, right?) It was an intense game, as Zack & Screech (also known as the Nutty Irishmen Champions) are one of the elite teams that continuously come out year after year for the World Series of Beer Pong.

Thanks to the Milwaukee Crew and their relentless cheering, we managed to pull off a sweet come from behind, upset victory. I sure hope that some of the footage shot by the crew makes it into their production, because I would like to see it from an outsiders perspective. In my mind, it was one of the all time greatest games that I played in. After that win, we were flying pretty high and we were ready for anything that the competition could throw at us. And since we knew that it would be ping pong balls, we would be ready.

It was a pretty intense game. From what I'm told, we were down by as many as 6 cups at one point during the game. As you can see in the pictures below, Kanz and I have a nasty habit of putting ourselves out of the game, even though the game isn't over until the kill shot is hit. And even then, thanks to redemption rules, the game still isn't over. So why do I have my hands on my head and Kanz is sulking in the corner? It's cause we don't have the necessary confidence to believe in ourselves. That's what is stopping us from being an elite team. We're both mental headcases when it comes to beer pong, and if we can overcome it, I see a CHBPL or WSoBP title in the near future.

In the far corner of the Ballroom, a featured table (Table #1) had been set aside so that the film crew could get some sweet camera angles for their project. For our 2nd game of the day, Kanz and I were slated to play against Zack & Screech, who have both been out here since year 1. The gang came to watch and cheer us on.

After the match, we were interview by this Leah chick. I was too drunk/excited to remember any of our conversation, but I can almost guarantee you that it was the usual generic crap that I always say about beer pong. You know, the game is not over until the kill shot is hit, take it one cup at a time, beer pong is a team game, and so on. You can fill in the rest if the blanks with the usual sports sayings. I bet that Kanz said something intelligent because that's why I bring him along for the ride. Oh, and the fact that he can hit kill shots with ease. But I would like to point out that I hit the kill in this game, and it would be my only kill shot at the 4th World Series of Beer Pong.
