World Series of Beer Pong 3 - Beer Pong Day 1 |
I first met Shaun (right picture, guy to my right) at the 1st WSoBP. He's from Canada, and represents his country well. He's a great guy, and is an honorary member of the Milwaukee Beer Pong team. Oh Canada! |
The games start at approximately 11:00 am in the morning, which is hardly the hour that most people play beer pong. Aside from the WSoBP, I have rarely played beer pong this early, which makes it difficult for me to play at my peak performance level. Like most beer pong players, I play better when I have a couple of drinks in me, which makes it necessary to start drinking Sailor Jerry at 11:00 am. Kanz follows suit by slamming a can of Milwaukee's Best Ice (it was like $6 for a 12 pack in the convenience store in the hotel. I know it's not the greatest beer, but it's cheap and it has a high alcohol content. What more could you ask for? |
I've been waiting a while to write commentary for these pictures because I wanted some of the statistics from the Bpong staff. In the previous years, they have done a daily breakdown of all the matches and provided statistical analysis of the games so that people like me (who don't remember a thing) can recall their WSoBP experience. This whole week is just one big drunken blur, so I need a sober party to tell me what I did, if even for a small part of the day (such as the games themselves). They have yet to provide a WSoBP 3 wrap-up (even though it's been 5 months), and I can't wait any longer. |
Kanz had just turned 21 this year, and has been looking forward to this moment for some time. Although a majority of the beer pong players nationwide are under the age of 21, for legal reasons, everyone playing in the WSoBP must be of legal drinking age. That having been said, this was his first year of eligibility for this event. |
Joe and I were pretty excited to get this tournament underway. We've played really well in the past against CHBPL teams, and we anxious to test our skills against the best in the world. We had no idea what to expect. |
Billy and Duncan (the men behind Bpong.com and the WSoBP) have been instrumental in the growth, expansion, and nobility of this sport. Without them, we would never have had a National Tournament in the cities of Mesquite and Las Vegas. I will happily stand and applaud all of their efforts and laurels. Good work guys. |
