World Series of Beer Pong 2 - Day 1

Casey and Lorge were the most veteran team that we sent to the WSoBP, and in fact, they finished with the best record in the 1st WSoBP, placing 5th. It was nice to be able to support them during their play, even if they competition had increased and they struggled a bit. I love watching my friend's play almost as much as I love playing, so I was glad to be able to be present for everyone else's games.

In this picture I am visibly drunk/high on winning the fist couple of games in this tournament. I was unsure of how Hummel and I would stack up versus the competition, but so far we have proven that we were among the best players in the country.

The problem with having 250 teams is that you are bound to have some bad players. I hate to call them bad, because anyone who is willing to fork over $400 to play beer pong has to be good enough, but they were just not as good as the rest of the people out here. One such game was taking longer than it should have, so Billy (co-founder of Bpong.com and organizer of this tournament) stepped in to hit the kill shot. You have all heard the phrase "those who can't do, teach" right? Well, this was a perfect example of that rule. Billy struggled on the kill as much as the people on the table, and it made for a rousing and entertaining couple of minutes.

Hummel and I celebrate our victory by drinking the remainder of the beer left on the table. The beer sponsor for this event was the Sin City Brewing Company. They provided us with two beers - Sin City Stout and Sin City Light. The light beer obviously went down a whole lot smoother and was better for mass consumption in the game of beer pong. We decided to finish off the beer because we came to the conclusion that we had already paid for the beer (via the $400 entry fee) so we might as well get out money's worth.

In the 2006 WSoBP, there were only 2-3 girls present, which made for an incredible Sausage Fest. It's understandable, considering the heavy drinking and the nature of the game, but it was good to see more girls participating in the 2007 WSoBP.
