World Series of Beer Pong 2 - Playoffs |
This was something that I didn't realize until I saw these pictures at Bpong.com - Grannies at the WSoBP. They must have wandered in here from the Oasis or Casablanca, but I bet that they had no idea what they were about to witness inside of this tent. I hope they had a good time watching, and I hope that they sign up for the 2008 WSoBP. |
I hate to give anything away, but our triumph over the Hardly Boys would be our last win of the tournament. I shot horribly, and thanked Hummel a million times over for bailing me out of that nightmare of a game. If I'm gonna go down, I want to go down playing the greatest pong of my life. |
I love this picture. A lot of people will lie to you and say that they don't like notoriety and publicity, but it's probably because they never got any. It's really cool to have cameras in your face and have lots of people listen to what you have to say. All of this attention really has me mystified. After all, who in the world cares about what I have to say about a college drinking game? Apparently someone does, and as long as they are asking the questions, I'll keep on responding to them. I was pretty high on this win, but I had to get my head back in order because we soon would face off against Pi Lam, which unbeknownst to us, would be our last game of the 2007 tournament. |
I have to be quite honest with you - we were a little outmatched against the boys from Pi Lam. They hit the kill shot on us when we had two cups remaining. By rebuttal rules, we now had one shot to make a cup to continue the game. If that cup were to be hit, we needed to hit a kill to force overtime. We were definitely facing an uphill battle. I handed the ball over to Hummel and told him that I wanted him to shoot. It was quite possibly the hardest beer pong related decision that I have ever had to make. I want to have all of the pressure on my shoulders in the big game and take the blame or the fortune and glory resulting from my shot. But I also realized that Hummel had been nailing all of the kill shots thus far and was shooting better in the clutch. He was disappointed in himself when he missed the shot and ended our play, but I truly meant it when I told him that if I had to go back and do it again, I'd give him the ball for the rebuttal shot 10 times out of 10. |
Both of our teams had been eliminated from the 2007 WSoBP, but you would never be able to tell that by looking at our faces. I attest our strong will and positive attitude through tumultuous times to our friendship and our ability to lean on each other in times of need. We have good chemistry from the countless hours we have spent together at work and in the attic/basement playing beer pong. |
While we were outside pondering our good fortune in the tournament (remember before the 2007 WSoBP, Hummel and I had never played together on a bingbong table) when we ran into our Eric and Tony from Northern California. They had failed to make the playoffs, but had come by to say goodbye to some new and old friends. We were happy to run into them again, and we wished them a prosperous year. |
