World Series of Beer Pong 2 - Playoffs

I was a little upset that we lost to Front Cup, but I wasn't really really upset for two reasons. 1 - They were also from Wisconsin so it was nice to see a home-town team advance in the playoffs and 2 - their next game was against We Own Your Face. I'm not sure if I mentioned Tone in my coverage of the 1st WSoBP, but he was a real jerk to us, and especially hated our friend Casey Riley. We called him Raphael from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles because of his dome and because he had a wicked attitude (he was cool but rude if you know the song).

We played against The Hardly Boys and it turned out to be one of the most frustrating and difficult games of my professional career. Both teams shot absolutely horrid, and I'm sure that we drew some groans from the crowd because we were missing so many shots. At one point in the game we were up by a good 6 cups but we couldn't hit the kill shot to end the game. The game seemed to go on forever and I would have been inconsolable had we lost this one, but we didn't, so my green hulk-like rage subsided and we moved to the next round.

Most of the crowd was cheering against We Own Your Face because Tone had rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. He was a nice person if you talked to him one-on-one, but he came off as a jerk. I asked him why, and he said that he plays better when he is pissed off. He feeds off of the negative energy that the crowd provides, and they were providing enough off it to power this machine a long way.

Mike and Chris from the Iron Wizard Coalition have been big supporters of the Milwaukee teams since the 1st WSoBP. You can see them trying to distract the other team while amping up the crowd in the video of Balkman and Brodey on their rebuttal distraction. We returned the favor by cheering for them in the playoffs. Thankfully, none of our teams had to face them.

Balkman and Brodey put up a good fight, but ended up finishing a respectable 25th place. They do get the distinction of playing the longest games in the playoffs and allowing their games to take full advantage of the rebuttal addition. They were always the last to finish and once again became the Greatest Show on Plywood.

These pictures were taken by Duncan for Bpong.com. Up until this point, both Billy and Duncan were so busy that they didn't have time to sit back and enjoy the fruits of their labor, let alone take pictures of the event. I "stole" these pictures from the site because I was too busy playing to take them myself. I hope they don't mind...
