Afterglow 2009 - Day 7 Friday |
The next great Afterglow idea was conceived while we were standing 12 feet above the world on top of the high dive. Somehow we decided to try to throw our hats over the edge, jump in after them, then try to put them back on our heads before splashing down in the water. If it sounds complicated and too much to do in the few seconds from high dive to water impact, then you know now what we found out after a few tries. Brian and Kevin did their best to compensate for wind, mass, speed and all those other concepts from physics, but as you can see, they must have had their math equations wrong because they failed. Stacy came the closest towards accomplishing this seemingly impossible task, but even she couldn't pull it off. With more practice and timing we may be able to get it next year, but this year we were unsuccessful. |
Kevin and Brian went for a nice relaxing kayak tour of Afterglow Lake, and from my vantage point they looked like they were having a lovely time. God only knows what they talked about while floating on top of that majestic beauty, and I don't know if I ever want to know the words from that conversation. Some things are just better left between two life partners and in the mind of the all knowing God. |
Earlier in the week we decided to wear our sombreros while we were swimming on Friday. When Friday came around, we were happy to finally be able to do it, but also sad because all good things must come to an end. Even though our family members have known us since birth, you have to imagine that they still found the sight of us standing on top of the high dive wearing sombreros to be a little jarring. |
When we were all back together, we went out to the high dive on a mission to destroy our sombreros. It sounds like a dumb idea now, because we are sombrero-less, but at the time it was awesome. We jumped off the HD onto our hats, ripping the brim from the top. The result created sashes and farmer hats, which we would now wear. |
Brian and Kevin returned to dry land with all sorts of adventures and stories that they could or could not tell us, but it's nothing that we haven't heard before. If you want my opinion of what happened out there, I'll wager $100 that says they just quoted movies while they were out there. But in the end, does any of that really matter? |
